New PB on Drag Radials Auto 3.5

Decided to go to the track again so my GF could get some runs in HER car and she ended up running a new personal best lol. Her first run was a 14.0@101 and she was pretty mad that she didnt break 13's. It was mostly her launch so I told her to try it again and her next run was 13.74@101 and she was super happy. We let the car cool off for a little while while my brother made some passes on his drag radials. Then we mounted them up on her car and I told her the first pass will be the worst until she gets a feel for them and I was right. She did a pretty bad burnout and floored it when she launched and smoked them halfway down the track lol. So I told her to launch like she was on street tires and she ended up running 13.58@103 2.19 60' . She was lined up with a modded 03 mustang GT that ran 13.7@103. She was pretty pumped to say the least. I took it down the track on the last run of the night and ran 13.66@102 2.23 '60. The car loves this cooler weather ALOT. I heard one guy yell out "A turbo maxima??" lol. I'll post the timeslip and pics of the car later today. I knew the car had it in it!

So the 13.74 was on street tires and the 13.58 was with the radials? Nice drop in time just from a tire change!

You make me want to build a 4th gen so bad. I can find them for like $500-800 with a blown headgasket or something else wrong with it. Then swap in a 3.5 and have some fun.

I'm lazy, do you have a build thread on your gf's car?

The converter is what's holding the auto cars back. If he could get a good converter in there, I bet 1.7-1.8 60fts would be possible.

man dont we.... im trying to think of why our times would be greatly improved though... i mean, if im already doing a 2.0 60' on street tires im gonna probebly pull a 1.9 at best... not much an improvement there, i still want em though

If you want a bigger improvement, get a higher stall converter. Then you'll need some slicks. That will drop your times quite a bit.

Thanks man. We have 2 mods in the works for the car you probably saw pics of one of them on FB. We'll see how much of a difference they will make once everything is on and we hit the track again. Truthfully Im happy with the 13.5 but I think we could get a 13.3 before the tracks close. If only I could pull a 2.0!

A 1.9 would get you a 13.5. I'd say its worth it.

I really think we need more practice on the radials. Maybe Im crazy but I thought drag radials were supposed to hook no matter how you launch them. I tried launching at 2200 and spinned them off the line. A higher stall would just make the spinning worse. I guess if we were on slicks it would be different.

Drag radials suck for fwd cars. Get some 22 or 23" slicks for that bad boy.
