What is this wire?
1987 maxima VG30E
I was stumbling around this area of the engine looking for the head temp sensor (its a pain to get to!) and i found this little wire sticking out of the wire harness bundle thing. it is circled in red in the pic below. There is also another wire that comes out right next to it tht grounds on the block above it.
I have not tested for voltage or anything with the car on. I havent been able to find what it is in my Haynes book either.
It has been running ok, so it doesnt appear to be anything critical, but you never know. The ECU is throwing just a code 41, so i am replacing the fuel temp sensor. I wasnt sure if this was related to that at all since it looks like it might connect to/near the pressure regulator.
any help is appreciated!

huh...that is really silly of me. How is it supposed to connect to that nut/sensor? it looks like a little ball of solder on the end of the wire, so do i solder it back on or was there a plastic connector that broke off at some point?

I'm going to go with there should be a connector, chances are that the plug got broke at some point and someone soldered it on, or the plug is a bit farther down the wire, I have never had a VG with the fuel temp sensor so not sure on that, but you best bet would be get a new sensor then you will have one that has the connector you might have to make a plug if it's just a tab that sticks out (like the wire on the side of the distributor) you should be able to get a connector that you can put on the end of the wire to hook it up. Don't forget to drain the fuel pressure before taking the sensor off, have the car running and pull the fuel pump fuse and let run till dies.
