WTB se cluster in km
Anyone out there have a 3rd gen se cluster in km with 221,000km-222,000km. I have one with 271,000km and was going to do the swap when my gxe cluster reached that point but now my tach stopped working so im hoping someone might have one with the mileage im looking for or might be willing to swap for the one i have if it works for the seller. Either way im willing to pay aswell. Thanks.

I took a spare that i had apart. From what i see its like a thin plastic piece for each gauge but peeking below looks to be pretty intricate electronics. If i had some instruction on how to safely swap or remove the gauges on these peticular clusters i suppose i could do it i just dont want to bugger something up. If i could do that that would be great being i have an se cluster with the white faced gauges i'd like to swap into my existing cluster so i wouldn't have to worry about the difference in mileage and i could just swap the se gauges into my existing gxe cluster. Assuming it is my tach in the cluster that's the problem and not something else though even still it would be nice to be able to swap the gauges regardless.

I have an SE speedometer cluster that reads in km. From a Canadian VE. The odometers are fairly easy to swap amongst clusters.. as long as both units read in km shouldn't be an issue. Not sure what mine has for mileage when I get home. But no reason you shouldn't be able to put your odometer in it..

I'd like to know how you did that? I swapped my cluster and rolling back the numbers is damn near impossible as all the little gears are locked up. I tried it on a test cluster i had from the scrapyard to figure things out before hand so i wouldn't cause any damgage to mine. I was able to roll it forward only by the end number but that would have taken for ever. I figured out how to just swap mine into the new cluster which was simple and only needed to remove one screw to take it out.

+1 You were correct Lux, All the gauges were interchangeable. I swapped my gxe cluster with the se cluster and it was the tach itself that was the issue. Im assuming it had something to do with the metal box that has 2 wires going to the tach. After putting in the se cluster in everything worked great and i just swapped the odometer from mine into the new one.

Lol. Funny you mention it. Unfortunately im not an LED guru so ive actually got a thread looking for some advice on best led bulb types and colours. I was thinking of a nice blue which is a change from the gxe green. Thought about white but wasn't sure how white would look being its a white faced cluster. Any input would be much appreciated It had white led's in it when i pulled it out from the yard and assuming they worked and i should have tested it but now that ive got together i noticed most of the cluster light is out. Go figure just my luck. Now i've gotta take the dash trim back off and swap in some bulbs but it's not too difficult just a little time consuming.
