I have a 2000 maxima SE. Can anyone tell me where the location of Bank 1 sensor 1. The 3 O2 sensors are color coded with Red, blue, and White. Does anyone know which one bank 1 sensor 1 is. Please help me out I need to pass my emmissions so I need to fix the sensor. Thanks.

The HO2 sensor, B1S1 connector is located between the fire wall and the engine on the passenger side, near the wiper motor. The sensor itself is located in the exhaust manifold between the engine and the fire wall. Not easy to see.

You have 4 sensor on this engine:
Sensor 1 bank 1 (on the cylinder one side, exhaust manifold)
Sensor 2 bank 1 (on the cylinder one side, exhaust pipe)
Sensor 1 bank 2 (on the cylinder two side, exhaust manifold)
Sensor 2 bank 2 (on the cylinder two side, exhaust pipe)

Thanks, but I only see 3 O2 sensors. Also do you know the color of the bank 1 sensor 1. I see red, white, and blue. Can you help me anymore.

I believe that the 2000 year has 3 and the 2001 has 4 o2 sensors. There is a TSB which outlines the entire system and shows where the harnesses attach. With color codes, RED WHITE BLUE, etc.

What is a TSB?

On 5th Generation MAX, chassis A33 you have "4" Oxigen sensors. 2 on each side off the engine. One before de cat. converter and one after de cat.

The sensors before de cat. converter are the sensors "1". The sensor after de cat. converter are the sensors "2".

The sensors on the number 1 piston side are sensors "bank 1". The sensors on the number 2 piston side are sesnsors "bank 2".

The two S1 sensors are identicals. The two S2 sensors are identical except for the wire jacket color.

So you have four sensors:

S1B1 3 wires, normally blue jacket
S1B2 3 wires, normally blue jacket

S2B1 4 wires, normally white or gray jacket
S2B2 4 wires, normally red or red/brown jacket

The 2000 SE in question is a Federal and Canada configuration. Only three O2 sensors are used. The one under/in the front manifold is the B2 sensor...coded BLUE, the one under/in the rear manifold is the B1 sensor .....coded BLACK, and the sensor right behind the cat. (rear B1) is coded WHITE. The TSB is NTB02-051a. July 03.

the cali emissions has 4 O2 sensors.
the fed has 2
and the can has 3 (i think)

Let's not confuse lildiego31. I own a Federal/Canada 00 Maxi and have previously located all the O2 sensors on this vehicle and I have a copy of the TSB in front of me. If it is a 2000 and not a Calif. spec. car it has the above mentioned three sensors. There will be NO red harness.

I have a 2000 Maxima SE with California emmissions. I only see 3 O2 sensors. I see one in the front by the radiator with a blue jacket, and two underneath with a red and white jacket. The red jacket is in the manifold and the white one is right before the cat converter. So in this case would bank one sensor one be the one with the red jacket covering. I talked to nissan and they are just confused with the whole thing. Sorry guys I am really having trouble with this. It is really confusing but I really apprecitate it greatly. lildeigo31: You have it figured out except you have not yet located the Bank 1 (rear cylinder bank, B1) (Black) 02 sensor. It is located at the back end of the pre-cat just below and on the right side of the connection of the rear exhaust manifold and the pre-cat. It is confusing because Nissan labels it as the H02S1-B1 Front O2 sensor. The connector is located inboard of the RH strut tower about a foot just in front of the firewall.
