help- my car shut off @ a red light and died
i just got home, my car ran fine all day today, but on my way home, i stopped at a red light and the car started shaking and just turned off, when i tried to turn it back on it wouldnt, so i`m stuck in the middle of the street and had to push it to the side, lucky some guy helped out. anyway i called a cousin and he gave me a boost right up. any ideas what this could be, i cleaned the throttle body about 2 weeks ago, and ever since then the car has been idling between 400-500 rpm`s, i have an auto so its supposed to be around 700-750rpm`s, whenever i stop at a light the car shakes, and when i hit the gas its fine, it`s just today it shut off, i cant have this car turning off like that i take a bridge to goto work, dont want it stalling out on the bridge, i searched and found someguy had something similar and it turned out to be the maf sensor? please help.

check the maf sensor, and the coilpacks, has your SES light come on? you might want to check the codes for that, if you do get the codes, come back and let us know what they are so we can help your further

after doing some more searching, i have found that people who`s alternator has been dying have symptoms of the car whining when they turn it on, that has been happening to me for about a month now. i didnt think much of it, i thought it was just one of the belts. i have a multimeter, how do i check the battery and alternator voltage?
