Nissan Maxima Keyless Entry Remotes & Programming
What does your local dealer charge for Nissan keyless entry remotes?
My Nissan dealer wants $149 a piece plus $35 for programming for each of my cars (97 Maxima, 350Z).
I'm curious to see what other dealerships are charging for new remotes and programming.
I'm done with ebay because the listings show new remotes, and 3 out of 3 times I've won - I end up with junk that doesn't work and won't program. First one was superglued together and cracked. Can't check the battery if you can't even open it. Second one was completely corroded inside from water and didn't work. The 3rd one only 1 button worked and it looked like someone tried to superglue the circuit board pieces back together. Each one was advertised as new, or like new and they obviously weren't anywhere close to that. The Keyles Ride site is run by one of those same lying ebay sellers, so thats off the list too.
What does your local dealership charge? I bet there's some that want even more than what mine is charging.

Even if you bought 5 of them at $15 a piece it would still be worth it to try to get them cheaper. I got mine for $20 shipped on ebay. Programmed it in less than a minute. Local dealer wanted $120 for the part, $30 to program. ...crackheads.

93Miata- have you got any remote that works? i.e. I'm just trying to figure out if the remotes are bad or if your keyless system on the car is hosed.
Get ready for some if the dealer charges tells you the keyless system on the car is bad... cos' they'll still charge the minimum diagnostic fee...

I just recently bought a keyless remote off of Ebay, and had no problems what so ever with it. I only paid 25 bucks too, so I guess I lucked out. Programming it took less than 5 minutes.
Oh, and the seller's name on Ebay, was remote-entry-store...If anyone else needs a quality remote.

I'll have to check out that window thing. I bought the car used, and it came with 1 remote, but it died a horrible death when I accidentally sent it through the washing machine in my pocket.
Anyways, I found another keyless entry remote site online that I'm willing to give a shot - www.ThePartsYouNeed.com
The KR site wants $122 a piece for the 97 Maxima remote, and they're less than 1/3 that price on ThePartsYouNeed site with the instructions included. I ordered 1 this morning.

I'll keep you guys posted. If it works good, I'm going to order one for my 350Z as well.

dont get it programmed by someone. do it yourself, easier that putting gas in your car. its on here somewhere in the stickies. its just putting your key in and out three times, when both blinkers flash you turn to acc. setting, then hit the lock button, and take out key and thats it.

I don't think he was asking what does it do but rather what is the significance in relation to keyless remotes. The significance is that the factory security system is part of the comfort and conveniece option that also included the keyless remote system. So if you have the security light you should also have the remote system. On the 97 models the convenience group included the power trunk release, power drivers seat, keyless remotes ,the security system and the power radio antenna. His information indicates he has a 99 model and I'm not sure what was included in the comfort and convenience group that year.

Sweet!
I got my remote order in 2 days - gotta love that.
The FCCs are as follows: (copied from the ThePartsYouNeed.com website)
95-99 - A269ZUA078
00-01 - NHVWBU43
02-05 - KBRASTU15
The remote workes great and programming took about 10 seconds and I was done. I was impressed on how easy it was and surprised that dealerships charge 1/2 an hour to 1 hour of labor to do that. Ughhh..
Anyways, when I went back to order a remote for my 350Z I noticed I got free shipping as a return customer, so I bought an extra for the Maxima and a pair for the Z.

Ahh, forgot to update.
When I got my 2nd order in, I ran into a bit of confusion with programming the 2nd remote for the Maxima... I just was jumping ahead tho. Both have to be programmed together, so the first remote had to be re-programmed.
The Z instructions look pretty much the same as the Maxima, so I'm assuming Nissan uses the same programming for all their cars.
Its nice having the remotes for both cars again. For a little while I was wishing I had keyless entry on the Miata so I could get some remotes for it, but then I remembered....I never lock it, and if someone wanted in, they'd just cut my top open.
Anyways, if anyone else needs remotes, I'd recommend www.ThePartsYouNeed.com . They seem to have all of Nissan's lineup available.
