Lucky to be alive

Ok long story short I was passing a semi this morning ( no tailgating or speeding) and caught the turbulence coming off the back corner and ended up swerving into his back corner. I'm good but the Maxima is done for, as you can see it stood to the force very well and they were actually able to drive it onto the flatbed for the tow.

It is sad to see it go but it will obviously be junked, I am going to try to get the Tokicos, Eibachs and anything else on it I have.

If you have any parts request PM or post them Everything will go for very cheap probably but I only have about 2 days at most to get my stuff off.

How fast were you going? I good that you are well. I'm surprise this stuff can happen because I passed 55-65mph trucks all the time and no problems, but mine is stock.

Damn Josh, glad to see your OK. I had an accident back a few years ago before the max where a Semi Rear Ended my Explorer. That was quite the POP!

Any idea on future car plans yet?

btw, is the window damage from going under the semi? or what?

Also glad to hear that you aren't injured.

It's also sad to see another 3rd gen out of action.

Thanks guys, It is actually being replaced with a 02 S-ER I looked at yesterday, nice timing hu. The glass broke because the A-pillar was bent by the back corner of the semi and when it flexed the glass shattered.

The speed was between 70-80. Anyone who has driven on I-65 can tell you how fast that road can be with 100+ miles of a 70 mph speed limit and flat land all around. It is nothing to be passed by groups of moms in SUV's going 90-100.

Hopefully some parts of the maxima can live on when i pull some parts off.

can I get the car now?
it's easy enough to get a gxe here so I would swap all the VE bits over
I know you took care of it, enough parts came from me

I can vouch for the traffic speeds on I-65. I make that trip many times a year and easily find myself going 90 just following the flow of other cars. Never seen that happen from passing a semi, but I believe it could happen if it was windy enough. The gusts can be ridiculous because of all the flat ground.

Sounds like a heart pounder, good you made it out alright. I'm not totally surprised though after what happened to Phasta (I think that was it). His 3rd gen got smashed into oblivion and he came out with a broken leg and a couple bruises..

i dont get how this happens? Motorcycles pass semi's all the time without incident. Wouldn't the suction be a bit behind the rig not next to it where u were? There had to be another problem if wind was able to make u crash into the truck when weather readings for that area that day were wind speeds between 0 - 3 mph.

The suction isn't always the same behind semis, most of the time I have no problem but there have been a few trucks that blew my car around

Wow, i've felt some wind gusts in a car but thats quite something, good job on walking away from a collision with a semi!

Wont you have the wind threat in the sentra on that commute?

Ha, I am just going to pull everything off of it and sign it over to the towing company. The funny thing is that since that knock sensor stuff was late I never got it installed so thats not a total loss for me.

Yeah I have been thinking about that, but I figured this was a fluke in 5 years i haven't had any trouble so hopefully I can avoid this happening again.

I haven't decided if I want to mod the sentra, we will see how I feel about it in a couple weeks. I have had a couple request for shipping but I have a lot of things to put up for sale so if you need anything let me know.

wow, that's lame. I wouldn't think that a wind gust form a semi could blow around a 3200lb maxima that easily. sorry for the loss.

when my wife totalled my van, we went to go get some stuff out of the van and the a-holes wouldn't let us near the van until we gave them the title or bailed it out ($140 for 2 hours). I was going to give them the van once I cleaned it out, but they pissed me off so I sold it to a scrap buyer for $150, he came and I made $10 while the tow company lost out on the vans true value (chrysler van with a PERFECT transmission)

Damn dude, I'm so sorry to hear (read) this... Now I know why you offered me that stuff on facebook. Glad you're fine.

I can vouch for I-65 along with Matt...the night we took the pic below, I drove from Chicago to Indianapolis in 1 hour 55 minutes each way and thats a 200 mile trip each way. Funny thing is I was getting passed up by all sorts of cars...

Did you ever pull any parts off it?

RIP Maxima
