VG30E Knock sensor

After doing a little researching i've read different views and opinions on K.S. operation and symptoms and wether or not they can be faulty intermittently or they just fail completely also when looking up the part some sites show 2 different types of knock sensors. Does anyone know if at any point the knock sensor style changed at all from 89-91 and 92-94 kind of like the injector styles changed from square to oval? I've heard that the K.S in the VG rarely go bad and i've also read somewhere they are usually only good for about 10yrs? Also was the location of the VG K.S changed at any point or has it always been mounted on the back of the block on the VG and has anyone changed theirs on the VG without having to take anything apart to get at it. I believe on the VE it's under the intake monifold so obviously thats a different scenario.

Ac, the ks is one of those things out of sight out of mind. I never had to change mine or even considered changing it. If you are getting knocks, you may want to make sure you are running the correct fuel octane and/or check you timing.

No knocks per say. I always put the higher octane gas in it but the ks can also cause some hesitation by retarding the timing.
