cai intake can slow you down?

cai intake can slow you down?

I keep hearing that some cai's can slow you dow. Is this true or a bunch of crap?

As far as Im concerned its a bunch of bull, or a difference of opinions.


Track timeslips show little variance, about as much as results regardless of what intake you are running with.

I've never heard of the issue described that way. The problem is that CAI is really restrictive in the the high RPM's. This is why a lot of people are converting to hybrid intake designs. Hybrids have less piping and curves to slow down the air velocity moving into the throttlebody.

Yep good point deezo. That really doesnt bother me cause I havent noticed it at the 1/4......and last night I put a 3000gt through some tourment all through the range.

You can definitely get good times with a CAI. Medicsonic (Where the hell are you dude?) ran very good times with his CAI. Plus in our Pike Vid he was as fast as the modded 5 speeds, if not faster.

Once the tube heats up as hot as the engine, it'll just defeat the purpose of a CAI.

But honestly, between a pop charger and a CAI, in the end, they're all the same performance wise.
