how much to replace a wheel bearing?

I think my rear wheel bearing ihas gone bad, what's the cost to fix that? my mechanic says $300. any help would be appreciated.

www.motorvate.ca has a great write-up for those of us without a bearing press in the garage.

it only lists the front bearings, does the same procedure apply for the rear?
