What size socket do I need to get the front CV axle nut off??

What size socket do I need to get the front CV axle nut off??

All I know is that it's big. I've got a 1 1/4" socket and that won't fit.

It says I-7/16 on a socket, other value is S0716, hope this helps...

36mm is correct. Make sure it's attached to a decent breaker bar; those things are on there pretty tight.

I honestly don't know what I'd do without my impact wrench. FOr the life of me, the axle nut would not budge with my breaker bar. It's not pro quality but is much better and longer than breaker bars you get with sets. I could feel it stressing and I am sure that it would have broke if I pushed it further. Just a couple of seconds with the impact wrench and that nut was off! I had the same experience with the crank pulley bolt.

I heard you shouldn't use an impact wrench on axle nuts. Where-ever I heard that said that you could damage the transmission/CV joint that way.

It makes sense, though I have yet to confirm this.

I used a 3/4" breaker bar w/a jack handle over the end for more leverage. Worked like a charm!
