I have mine wired to the parking lights, and I removed the sidemarkers and the bumper lights, so basically when I turn on my parking lights, my fogs and my tail lights are the only things on. Looks pretty good with my rally gold bulbs in there... kinda has the CTS look going. I didn't realize it's illegal though... I'm not sure why it would be.

in canada i think it is because they are supposed to have real drl. just wire the fog lights to a wire that has power on accesory and leave the switch always on.

there is no way this can be illegal. why would it be illegal to have lights on that can contribute to everyones safety on the road. people can see you when you are coming at them...

I ride with all my lights on everytime I drive. It is just proven to be safer than without them. It is just habit for me to turn them on when I get in the car and to turn them off when I get out.

Wow, took 11 !! posts to get the link up here

That is the mod that want to do too actually, so it needs to be wired somehow diferently, maybe directly to the battery ??? ...

Anyone's done it...

maybe you fellas aren't understanding...

if you follow the instructions in the link that i posted, you can turn on your fogs independently of your parking lights or headlights. you can run with ONLY fog lights if that's what you want. to clarify further:

you can run with ONLY parking lights,
ONLY fog lights,
ONLY parking lights and headlights,
ONLY fog lights and parking lights, or
fog lights, parking lights, and headlights.

also, your fogs will stay on when you use your high beams.

so, if you want to use your fogs as drl's, just turn on your foglight switch, and your fogs will go on when you start your car, and turn off when you turn off the car.

OneToughMax i understand you!

He's right you can do this independently of everything as long as the car is on. I did this in a matter of a couple of minutes. It's a really easy mod to do. Go to this link, it's easier done than said.

Thanks for the link! The thing I want to do though, is to wire independently my blinkers (turn signals), because they are yellow LED ones and when on they look relly cool like the caddy's yellow fogs or Lexus. However, I still want to preserve their functionality. How is it possible?
If it is not possible to keep their functionality while having them on, then I will turn the parking lights into blinkers.

I'm confused, was that reply to me....

Just to clarify my goal - I want to have turn signals be lit just with a key in ACC position and still preserve their functionality as blinkers.

well i dont kno about fogs being illegal but before drl's become the norm people would get tickets for having lights on in the day time. back in houston my mom used to get the all the time cause she would forget to turn them off and cops would pull her over and hand her a ticket for driving with her lights on.

Ohh, now I got you! Yes, I saw that write up but that won't work for me because I have LED blinkers which have only two wires coming out: ground and positive. There is also third wire, positive that lesds to resistor with bigger resistence I believe so LEDs would be dimmer (those are former truck LED turning signals). So it is slightly more complicated in my situation...

its not illegal in the us to drive with the fogs on when there is no fog....however I once drove from amsterdam to paris and almost everyone on the road flashed me....I had no idea why at the time, and was very confused! But when I got to paris, I was pulled over by the gendarme, and they told me to turn off my fogs because it was illegal to have them on with no fog! I didnt even kow they were on the whole time, but I wouldnt have thought anything of it even if I had known....

Dude thats not what im talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!

what i want has nothing to do with teh bumper lenses.

what i want to achieve is this

Car is on
Fog light switch is on
no other lights on the car are on

what happens is this

car is on
headlight drl are on
fog lights are on (when switch is turned to on position)

a little trick to get around this is to start the car with the handbrake on and leave it in the first notch and then the headlights will not go into drl mode, just the fogs will be turned on when u flick the switch,

is there a way to do this withouthe handbrake trick?
