Help! P0443/0807 code - very confused
1996 Maxima GLE, Fed Spec, Vin #JN1CA21D7TM402993
Trouble Code P0443 - Evap canister purge control valve circuit fault -
Here's the story,
Recently my CEL turned on, I turned the screw on the ECU and got an 0807 code, I looked this code up in the Haynes manual and found that it was - Evap canister purge control valve circuit fault. I called up Clay Nissan, gave them my vin number - JN1CA21D7TM402993 - and asked if they had an "Evap canister purge control valve", guy on the phone said they did. When I went down to pick up the part, the kid at the parts desk told me that there is no such part as an "Evap canister purge control valve" he said that there was a "purge control valve" in the engine bay, but the part connected to the evap canister was a "vent control valve" both parts were about $65 each so it would have been an expensive guess. Went to Autozone, guy pulled the code with the scan tool, P0443. Before I drive back to Nissan, I'd like to know if that code truly points to a fault in a single part, exactly what Nissan part # to buy and where the part is on the car. I'm extremely confused, did some searching online and found that there are a million variations for the names on these parts, any help would be appreciated.
vacuum cut valve
purge control valve
purge control soleniod
Purge cut solenoid valve
EVAP canister purge regulator valve
EVAP canister purge volume control valve
EVAP canister shut-off valve
EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve
EVAP Canister Purge Volume Control Solenoid Valve
?????????????????????????????????

MJF,
A P0443 is a EVAP canister purge control valve circuit fault which to me indicates a circuit or the valve itself.
The evaporative emmision cannister purge valve is a solenoid valve operated by the PCM to purge the fuel vapor canister and route fuel vapor to the intake manifold for combustion.
When you go back to Autozone or Pep Boys, you should pick up a Haynes manual. Best $15.00 you'll ever spend!!
The valve you are looking for sits on top of the Evap cannister located on the left side of the car behind the fuel tank. I would replace the cannister if it comes with the valve included. Good Luck!!

Just replace the valve that's connected to the canister behind the left rear tire. It's held onto the canister by 2 10mm bolts. I had that same code and replaced it and I haven't seen the code, nor has the person who bought my car. I replaced it back june.

Do you have a part number and approximate cost? Any instructions would be helpful too! TIA!
*edit*I should clarifiy...the GF's 97 is throwing the 0903 and I haven't had a chance to look at hers. I did check mine and it has a couple different panels.*edit*

I had the same problem with my max, but I didn't replace anything just try to spray some WD40 on that valve is probably stuck because of all the moisture @ the rear of the car. It worked for for me so this may save U some money if it works for U too.
