Hi...anyone with a 4th Gen have a problem with their battery simply exploding? Mine blew the other day upon starting. No previous indications of a problem. Of course, I'm beyond the 36K period so Nissan washed their hands of it....it's only a 2 year old car.

What the hell?

r u serious?

what happened? it just blew up??

it might have been a gas (from the battery) leak, then it sparked when electricity was running through it from the starter...

oh damn..

any structural damage??

Not too much...the battery box was trashed....as was a nice part of the fire protection material attached to the hood....it sucked

Whoa!

Wow your factory battery blew? I thought 98+ Maximas come with maintenance free sealed batteries, but I guess not. My 97 has a stupid high maintenance battery.

Did the car suffer any damage from the explosion? For those here with cone intakes, an exploding battery can splash acid on the intake, and then ruin the engine!

Thats a new one..

I think even with your car haveing more then 36K miles.. U should still take it to the dealer and have them check it out.. might be a new option from nissan. thats sounds like a safety issure more then warranty. what If U got hurt man.. I'm sure nissan wouldn't be crying about warranty if something had happined to U..
