So how far can you go on the gas light anyway? I never let my car go below 1/4 (nasty stuff on the bottom of the tank? dont know but i dont wanna find out) but im curious. I was reading the manual for fun and when i got to that part i noticed it says "A small reserve" but no amount/distance.

i think there's about 3-3.5 gallons left when the light comes on, but at that point it will turn off occasionally. it will stay on steady when you have 2-2.5 gallons left.

I drive mine down to and below the E line every time before I fill up.
I used to drive it until the red light. Those "gauges" aren't the most accurate things. I drove on the highway for a longggg time while the orange(or red) light was on. It will sort of flash and then come on and stay on when its real low.
One time i guess I drove it too long on the light cause it stalled out at a traffic light. The car started right up but you couldn't let it idle or it would stall. It stalled again before I could make it to a gas station.
Anyway, I don't drive it until the light comes on anymore.
I remember someone opposing the whole "there's crap in the bottom of your tank" thing cause they had looked inside one.
you should do that, you've got a lift.

Not so sure about "crap in the bottom of a tank." I've read somewhere that gas exits the tank from the bottom, so there wouldn't really be any crap in the bottom.

I usually never go below 1/4 tank but Im boosted. Once it gets below 1/4 tank its kinda hard for the walbro to do its job. If I ever get below the 1/4 hash, I dont boost till I find a station.

i dont believe that there is anything at the bottom of the tank... i mean u always use up all the gas anyways... thats what the fuel filter is for... i always only fill up with like 4 or 5 gallons.. and drive the car untill the needle is at the bottom of the empty square.. i dont have any problems....
