Thinking of buying a 4th Gen

Wuts up guys. I currently own a 92 SE but im buyin a new car. Im going to be able to spend around 10-12 grand on a car. Now im 17 years old and im going to be able to purchace the car around june 06 when i graduate highschool. I know its in a long time but i figured id narrow down my search now. I kind of want an SUV beacuse i go surfing alot and throwing the boards on the roof the max isnt fun but maximas kick *** and i dont want to spend alot of money on gas. Is there any year of the 4th gen that they made the rear seats fold down? I know they do in the 5th-6th but i didnt think they did in the 4th. I could afford a 5th gen but I want the best bang for my buck, and probly some money left over for mods/college. So i was thinkin spending like 7-8 grand on a 4th gen that has under 100k.

You can get a decent one for $7 or $8K and they will be cheaper yet in June 06. The seats do not fold down, however. Keep your eyes open for a good low-mileage 97 or 98, 5-speed that is rust and accident-free.

....but the center portion of the upper rear seat folds down for access to the trunk!

It's great for skis, but not snowboards or surfboards.

get the max lose the surf board...j/k i don't know man for the best of both worlds get the max and a roof rack for the boards and if they don't have a roof rack for ya just put acouple of towels under the surf board so it won't scratch the roof and get something to tie it down to the roof and threw the window.

get a 95/96, they weigh less, hence they are faster. but if you are looking for fast cheap cars i have a list for you.
acura integra gsr
eagle talon tsi/tsi awd
mitsubishi eclipse gs-t/gs-x (the non awd versions gs-t and tsi are faster in all but about 0-30) (are prone to crank walk so get a 1st or 2nd gen. the latter more prone)
dodge stealth; especially r/t turbo (5.9 0-60)
ford taurus SHO (same as a max, but yamaha engine 220 hp and is bigger 3400 lbs; already has raised redline of 7200 do not get if very concerned about gas mileage)
if you can spend more:
mitsubishi 3000 GT (especially VR-4, good luck finding one but 5.5 0-60

Reliability is a factor, too i think. gsr = too small for surf boards

Get a max for reliability. The stealth and 3000gt's recommended above are not very reliable, but I almost got one. Upgraded turbos and a few other mods and they push over 400hp (VERY VERY FUN)
But I love my max, 29 mpg. Quick enough to get me into trouble, bose, auto climate, decent suspension, SUPER CHEAP INSURANCE. And reliable! Can't beat it for 6 grand (96 SE with 70k miles)

I had a 91 eagle talon TSI AWD.... to be honest i hated that car... sure it was quick... but it was too much work and money spent. All these cars u listed are smaller then the max... he said hes looking for a car with room, hense why he said he wants to get an SUV. Stay away from suv's, just get the 4th gen max, 5 speed. More then enuff fun, realiable, decent room, good gas milage, and can get a nice one for well under 10k, expecially in 2006.

And you shouldn't go surfing alone, so get your buddies to pack your surfboard to the beach and meet up with them there.
