Brake Pad Wear

Brake Pad Wear
At 80-something thousand on my '96 Max I replaced the front pads with OEM. Now, about 50K later, both ourside pads are almost totally gone, but the inside pads only about half-worn. I don't have specific recollection about the original set of pads, but I doubt that there was such a great difference in pad wear inside versus outside pads.
Any thoughts?

poorly lubed, partially seized or fully seized caliper slider pins (the ones with the 12mm bolts) would be my guess. If the pins are not sliding freely it could be keeping the outside pad in contact with the rotor for a longer period of time after releasing the brake pedal because those pins are what enable the floating nature of a floating caliper.
