abs light on 97 nissan maxima

Has anybody has this issue? My ABS light just recently came on my 97 nissan maxima.

Please let me know if anybody has had this issue and what they did to resolve it.

I've had it happen on all my cars, usually from some dirt or snow getting packed in the ABS sensor ring though.

You need a new ABS sensor. $168 at your local dealership, and yes, they are the only place to get them new.

Check the FSM to see how to pull the codes to get which wheel the faulty sensor is located at. If it is a front wheel sensor, then you are going to either have to buy a new hub from a crashed Maxima with ABS or an i30. If it is a rear wheel sensor, contact fanaticrockford as he has them used for dirt cheap.

Just curious, but are you saying that a new hub has to be bought in order to get the front ABS sensor (not sold seperately), or am I not understanding you correctly??

Knock on wood that I don't have this problem, but one day I fear I will.

Thankfully, no a new hub is not needed. It is nearly impossible to get a front ABS sensor out without destroying it, which is why it might be easier/cheaper to buy a front hub assembly from a Maxima with ABS or an I30. I spent the $170 on the sensor over the winter and the light went away and my ABS came back

Do you know which one? Also check it out before you buy a new one, I swear with mine it was a matter of hosing off that area at a carwash and my problem was solved.
