I've been kicking it around, the install is easy enough. It's getting old f-ed up one out that concerns me. There's a bolt or two in there that I can't see how to get a wrench on, not to mention the rust...

Your right about that getting the old stock Y off is defiantly a problem with us up here in the rust belt. But once you get that done putting the new one on is simple.

sup man! I have 99 I30 auto, and stock I ran 15.9 1/4, I bought Headers+ Y-pipe and now I am running 15.5 easily with a 7.3 0-60 compared to 7.8 stock, not sure about HP gains, but now on low revs there is not that much power as I had before, but on higher revs it goes lol

Question...Earlier on WhiteA32 mentions breaking a header stud. I suppose perhaps he meant exhaust manifold. He mentions that he has a small exhaust leak. Do I understad rightly that it is necessary to unbolt or loosen the rear exhaust manifold from the head to install the y-pipe? IF so please explain why. If not please try to straighten out my understanding on what the steps are for the rear manifold if any.
Thank you

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WARPS...Q5fAccessories

Other cheap add on's that are good would be a turbocharger or supercharger, vlsd transmission, variable intake manifold, and nitrous.

Any downside to just leaving off the rest of the exhaust? I know some hondas need some backpressure etc....

Yes, the downside is that it's loud.

And backpressure is a bad thing. Don't get caught up in that whole 'backpressure == torque' thing...

I installed the Warpspeed Y-Pipe today in my driveway. It is a nice piece and im happy with it. It came with all hardware that you need, and even comes with a nice hanger as well. Took me about 1 hour using hand tools.

Things you will need:
floor jack
jackstands
1/2" ratchet
14mm deep impact socket
14mm shallow impact socket
12mm impact socket
22mm wrench
penetrating oil
1/2" swivel
1/2" impact extention

here is the hanger that came with the y pipe it uses factory mounting points and works very well. it also came with two new cat to y pipe bolts and nuts and gasket.

here is where the rear downpipe meets the manifold. take out the O2 sensor to give a little more room. the swivel must be used back here at least on two of these nuts. i used the short socket for one and the long one for the other.

Theres no need to show the front it looks just like the rear but is easier to do. same thing...remove 02 sensor and loosen the 3 nuts. Once you take both O2 sensors out and the 6 nuts for the headers you just have to undo the cat to y pipe bolts. my exhaust is new so this wasnt a problem for me but others might have trouble with rust. After everything is unbolted there are still two 12mm bolts holding the y pipe up...remove these and drop the pipe out.

Putting the aftermarket pipe is much easier you have more room to work with. install the crush gaskets and get the downpipes on the studs and hand tighten all 6 nuts. put the new gasket for the cat and hand tighted the two bolts. than install the new hanger and tighten it down. tighten down the 6 nuts but dont crank them down or they will snap. than tighten the y pipe to the cat and you done. start it up and check for leaks.

im ok with the way mine sounds i have a 2.5" test pipe and a 2.5" crush bent cat back to a 5.5 gen muffler. the added power is nice too. thanks for reading and im sure i forgot something but i hope some people will chime in. THANKS
Just redoing it so I can print this post.

ok yet another annoying y pipe ques....

its a direct bolt on right, bc i know dimensions are a bit bigger so i was wondering if it needed some additional parts to make it work....

Great write up. that'll help if I decide to do this myself. mine has rust so it'll probably be a lil harder for me.

Oh yeah its a direct bolt on and comes with everything you need to install it.
I need one of these as my stocker's flex section has a small hole in it and is giving me the aftermarket intake sound....BLEH

Suprisingly enough I just passed inspection with it though in NJ.
No codes - No problem

Warpspeed ccatalytic converter?

Are the warpspeed catalytic converters any good? On ebay warspeedperformance sells the Y-pipe, hanger, gaskets and bolts for $199:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

They also sell it with a catalytic converter added for only $285:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

My OEM catalytic converter is 12 years old but still passes inspection. If their catalytic converter is good quality then it's worth spending just $86 more for it.

If anyone has installed the warpspeed catalytic converter tell me how it runs and if it's passed inspection?

so does anyone had any issues with inspection test failure after installing the y pipe, installing mine now and i just wanted to know. (Tip for you guys having trouble getting the rusted bolts off i use wd40 and let it soak for about 45 min and i then hit them with my impact and they came right off. The 40 worked better than anything else i have used hopefully it will work for you.)

Take some pictures 20", Do you have a catback as well....If not I'll show you a good shop...where I plan on doing my catback on my 3rd gen....I'm gonna buy a builder's kit of T409 SS still debating whether to upgrade to 2.25" or 2.5"...Since I'm running Isky cams and headers I'm kinda leaning toward the 2.5"....Plus I have an extra 22" x 2.5" resonator already and soon a Warpspeed 2.5" metallic substrate cat!

Tell us how it went with the warpspeed y-pipe and high-flow cat? Was the installation successfull?
I have strong thoughts of installing those parts also but with MA having such a strick emissions test I've chickened out. I talked with dallas at warpspeed and he told me 2 MA residents that installed y-pipes failed the visual emissions test without the pre-cats.

i passed inspection. i went to Theo's Service Station‎35 Oak Grove Avenue, Fall River, MA 02723-2309(508) 673-9793‎. If it makes any difference they close at 4 and i went at 350 so maybe they just wanted to hurry up and leave lol. The install was very easy. I dont know about the cat fitment because my 97 came with an s pipe between the cat and resonator and i had that removed and just connected the resonator to the back of the cat. I went with SS also
