I'd say shoot for a different angle...coat hanger and the inside door handle and/or the master control for the locks. Picking the lock seems difficult without the right tools....that is assuming you have no other resources to help you out.

Best bet will be to call up your insurance company and see if your plan includes a locksmith. They will send one over and it should be free. If not, I know in my town the local PD and sherrifs office have the tool to "jimmy" open a door so you could try that as well.

Then sounds like you're going to have to call a locksmith, get a lockout kit, or break a window. Don't even bother trying to pick the lock, you'll likely just end up damaging it or getting a pick stuck in there (assuming you're actually going to use lock picks, and not a paper clip or something).

When you finally get into the car, get a spare key, hmm? I keep one of those $4 spares from Home Depot in my wallet, and one of my friends has the OE second key. Prevents exactly this sort of situation.

If you or any friends know someone with a tow company, lots of them have the jimmy tool. Otherwise +1 on the hanger; make enough straight to reach down to master control, after forcing wire horizontally over top of glass. Hope your window isn't up too tight.

You can try the coat hanger, but dont count on it working. Ive done it on older cars, but 90% of the time you do it, you end up causing more damage.

Go to the dealership, with your VIN number, they can look up the key code, and then cut you a new one. Thats probably the cheapeast way. I think they use NNA to find the key code. Yeah you gotta pay whatever the price is on the OEM key, alternatively you can get a Z32 spare key, its not titanium but looks a little cooler, and i think they might be cheaper. You will need some sort of proof that you actually own the car, maybe insurence papers, or title of ownership. If you forgot those in the car, you really need to learn, make photocopies of EVERYTHING.

Whatever the case is, i think you've learned a valuable lesson, always keep a spare key with you.

hallelujah!! i got it open. and all i used was a coat hanger and a slightly buff little brother. i decided that the rear door was the best bet so i got him to pull the door as hard as he could and i bent an old coat hanger and after about 10 min i GOT IT!! i went for the actual lock instead of the electrical one. talk about lucky ten mins with a coat hanger. man if this car didnt have an alarm it would probably be sittin on cinderblocks.lol

thanks guys for all the great advise. cuz man i was on the verge of . cuz i have to wake up at 5 in the morning tomarow to go to work.

my remote lock broke not to long ago so i keep it in the house..If it wasn't i would have been in the same situation the other day. I figure as well that since all it takes is the key in the drivers door to lock all the doors in the car there really isn't a point other then convience to carry it.

I agree, I can't even lock the car unless all the doors are shut...yet I still managed to lock myself out. I had the car locked, popped the trunk to grab something and put the keys down, didnt think and shut the trunk.

Don't you have second key? If you don't I would recommend you to get one. That is the first thing I got when I bought my car.

you don't need a locksmith... When i locked myself out, AAA came out, put a little separator between door and body(at top by window) and opened it using a hook... They ****ed up my weather striping, but did not have to pick the lock... you can try something like this.

i keep a magnetic box under my car with a key, saved me many times. Might be stupid, but I don't think a thief is looking for my hide away key. I always thought it might come loose, but has been on for 3 years.

yea im coming for your car...grab any pictures or very valuable things in it......i dont think tahts smart....i have my own "jimmy" lol. and with this crazy clifford alarm, if i open the doors, teh car starts going crazy... headlights blink, air horn alarm goes off, and the clifford goes off....although it was like music to my ears when someone tried stealing my sideskirts...they accually managed to unscrew one side b4 the alarm woke up all my neighbors...!!!

to the O.P and other orgers.... Make a copy of your key and dont give it to any friends(if i did that my friends would go joyriding in my car lol).....just put it somewere by ur house...considering u locked all of your keys inside and arent able to go inside of your home. Key + Jar in the dirt....somewere you can remember like bottom left of your staircase...etc......anyway good thing u figured it out....ciao

I don't know if you noticed or not, but you cannot use a traditional slim jim on a 4th gen (average user). They have a metal strip running along the lock and door handle bars that protect it from a traditional slim jim. You need the proper lock pick rods if you want to go in through the door under the window. The method used by the OP is the best way if you don't care about a little scratch from the hanger

That's stupid. If a person is "stuck' in the car...wouldn't they just be able to open the door? Animal is understandable, but a person? lol.

Good thinking. I retract my previous statement lol. I guess I need to be more analytical. Eh...it was early in the morning when I typed that post.
