Thanks for the regular updates and for maintaining the site. I dig TD and have my car up there just 'cause it seems like a dope idea. Definitely more useful than Carsurvey and Epinions.

We have updated results for the Maxima and I30/I35 to include owner experiences through September 30, 2011.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

1999: 96, better than average, small sample size

1998: 128, about average

1997: 127, about average

1996: 97, better than average, small sample size - a single car short!

1995 143, about average, very small sample size

Thank you, once again, to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in February and May. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

Great site, great info. My only concern is that it is redundant. The fact that the 4th gen is still around is testament within itself that the car is extremely reliable. The problem with all 4th gens remains that people didn't do any maintenance throughout its lifetime. That and rust... lol.

We have updated our reliability stats for the Maxima and I30/I35 to include owner experiences through June 30, 2012.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

1999: 93, about average, small sample size

1998: 51, better than average

1997: 117, worse than average

1996: 110, about average, small sample size

1995: 154, worse than average, very small sample size

We'll have further updates in November and February. Some of the variation from year to year is likely due to the sample sizes--with additional participants we could provide more precise stats.

As long as you maintain the fluids and don't beat on it like a 16-year-old, your typical 4th Gen will go 300K easily. /thread

We have updated our reliability stats for the Maxima and I30/I35 to include owner experiences through September 30, 2012.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

1999: 98, about average, very small sample size

1998: 45, better than average, small sample size

1997: 122, worse than average, small sample size

1996: 107, about average, very small sample size

The small sample sizes could explain some or even much of the variation among the older model years.

We'll have further updates in February and May. We'd love to provide more precise stats for all years 1998 and up--just a matter of getting more owners involved.

Good to know. I've always been a fan of the 98 model year. 1st with the digital odo, 1st with the better auto climate control. That pretty 97-99 look, and none of that emissions craziness and 5th gen experimentation of the 99.
