Trunk Rattle

Whenever I go over a bump, or some pot holes, I can hear my trunk squeaking. Does anyone know how to fix that? I just replaced my struts, and all the bushings, and gasket so that is definately not it.

I cant figure out what the heck is squeeking. Help.

I was thinking if I cant fix the source, I can sound deaded behind the seats, but I'd rather find the source and fix it.

yeah im experiencing the same sqeak/rattle. it almost sound like its on the inside of the cabin rather then the trunk itself.

i have looked at the trunk mechanism (rods) and played wit hthem to no avail, also looked at the rear speakers and how they are attached by taking ut the seats and the rear pilars, also to no avail.

i really cant imagine what else could be causing this because there are no moving parts in that are of the car

Loosen the two bolts that hold the trunk latch in place, lower it, tighten back up and rattle should be gone.

My maximas seal around the trunk has... "lost its seal" (still there, just not good anymore) so when going over a bump it makes the trunk lid rattle/bounce. Quite annoying. Any auto parts place has replacement seals though, just havent had a chance yet to fix it on mine. Might want to check yours to see if that might be a problem.

Not on the trunk lid, on the trunk. The latch can be moved up and down.

sorry to bring up an old thread, i know you all hate that. i have done some searching on the forums for trunk related things but nothing successful other than this old thread. usually I would not bump an old thread like this but im desperate.
Excuse my theories and speculation as Inane as they may appear..

My trunk lid is bouncing/rattling as i go over even the tiniest of bumps, at first i thought it was the spoiler maybe a bit loose, but it wasn't that, checked that, tightened it. It seems like the trunk lid isn't sitting snug/firmly enough or low enough against the main body.. perhaps the latch isn't holding it tight enough and I've fiddled with it, no luck. When the trunk lid is closed and you press down on it, seems to have quite a bit of movement up and down. I'm thinking its the latch, unless theres something else that it could be? Any suggestions on how to maybe tighten the fit against the main body. *All the trim/seals look to be there intact so i don't think its that. I haven't been able to figure it out and its driving me and all passengers crazy. mechanic couldn't figure it out either. (note: struts/shocks/springs/mounts/etc are all new, but it was doing it before as well.. so anything that can be tightened on the trunk lid/connection to main body that I'm not aware of - please do share your knowledge/experience.

Further clarification note: it's not squeaking, it's bouncing/rattling - moving up and down.)

thanks, please PM me if you like, as to not bump the thread. (AGAIN... aside from the obvious first one..)

That ship has already sailed.

Have you adjusted the latch? You say you 'fiddled' with it, but that means ****.
