Post pics of your hardwired radar detector | Ipod | GPS

I'd like to see how other people are hardwiring and mounting stuff. Post pics here if you've got em.

Here's my Valentine and Ipod Nano. I've got a Garmin Nuvi but I haven't figured out a good place to put it yet besides the lame suction cup mount.

The Valentine is clipped to the headliner with the visor clip. It kind of interferes with the passenger visor, but I don't see any other way to clip it cleanly and the visor can still move down without jacking up the detector. I pulled power off the cigarette lighter.

"Speed Limit Enforced by Aircraft" mode

I attached the Ipod to the blank plate on the dash with heavy duty velcro. I'd like to figure out a better place for it that is still easy to see and easy to reach but I haven't found one.

I just threw my radar detector behind where the stock clock was, wired it in to activate with the fogs.

Easy and hidden.

Heh, no pics. All you'd see from the outside is...nothing. With no alerts on the radar detector, it looks like when the car is off, just a black film there.

I pulled it out a while back because I wanted a clock again, but now that I've got the Z33 headunit with a clock...

It was a complete ghetto install, too; I gutted out a clock housing and electrical taped the detector in place.

Hell if I know, some POS I got while I worked at SAC.

I'll try to find it and get some pics. If you watch the open manifold vids I've got on Youtube, you can hear it whenever I start the car up, and IIRC Merlyn did catch it on film once or twice.

You know aircraft determine your speed based on known distance calculations right? They don't need or use radar to determine how fast you are moving.

Every time I see one of those signs ('Speed Limit Enforced by Aircraft') I can't help but visualize a Warthog or Mustang swooping down and taking out a car.

View kinda obstructed by the tassel...

Nevertheless, I no longer have the cig lighter in the trim piece, its under the dash. The radar plugs into the cig lighter, the cord runs out right out through the windshield vents.

Thanks! It's mounted to the top part of the windshield with the suction cups. I love having the radar mounted up there too. The dark blue strip on the windshield makes it very difficult to spot the radar up there. It's not good when a cop sees your radar detector and catches you speeding haha.

The only downside is every now and then I won't catch it in time and have a passenger crank the visor down, rip the detector off the windsheild and almost rip my mirror out of the ceiling. I am actually seriously considering getting like an 80's sentra/s10/chevy corsica beater car for having passengers so they don't f*** up my Maxima haha.

Oh, and as for your Max eating your brother's car, I can't even imagine. Your bro's car can put a carlength on me so easilly its not even funny haha. Not to mention all the turboed Z's and G35's around here. Oh well, shouldn't be as bad once I get a y-pipe, a good tune, and the 00vi installed. So far all I need are rear coils, rear valvecover, IACV, and a VAFC II.

Which actually brings me back on topic of this thread, anyone got any ideas on a good spot to mount the VAFC once I get it?

lol ill have the 3.5 in by the time he comes up here. even then i bet as i stand now im pretty close to him.

As for thte safc ive seen people kind of do what i did with the eu. But instead of using the door cubby they just use the one with out the door and mount it to the front of the cubby holder thing. Ive also seen it velcro mounted below the shifter in between the cup holder and the shifter

I'll post up pics of my hardwired items tonight. I have my sirius radio hardwired and custom mounted in the double din opening with my headunit in the stock din space and my radar detector just right on the center of the windshield hardwired to the cig lighter.

When I get a chance I'll take a picture of the remote display for my Valentine1 mounted in the cubby beneath the radio HU. The V1 is mounted behind the rear view mirror with just enough of the rear antenna exposed to still work.

My Cobra XRS9600 detects lasers. The car in front of me got lasered and my detector picked up some of the stray beams, it flashed "15 percent laser lock" on the display.

Once the guy aimed the laser gun at me then it flashed "100 percent laser lock"
