installed weapon r intake and....

dont know what to do with ait sensor...im hesitant to drill and put it in there..theres no mounting place for it..so i just left it off and figured to check here before i do anything irreversable..runs fine w/o the sensor but CEL is on...what should i do?

what is the sensor for and is it really needed?

thank you for tolerating my "noob-ness" as some call it..

gratz on grabbing a weapon R.
just leave it ziptied, ive had that thing in my intake for 1/3 of the time ive owned the car,
temperature is purely diagnostic in nature for our cars.

http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...mp-sensor.html

I fixed the problem by cutting a small hole in the coupler with some scissors and sticking the sensor in there.

Perfect fit and much easier than drilling a hole in the intake tube itself.

It would be good if you could get it into the pipe, but if not, hanging wont affect anything IIRC.

OT: Damn your car looks familure! ROFL!

On topic: It'll run fine with the IAT ziptied next to the intake pipe and have no CEL.

Yeah, well mine looked like yours at one point. I picked up some spray paint at advance autoparts, "Import autospray" made by Duplicolor I think? The can even said Pebble Beige, it was a perfect match. I believe the paint code is CG2? Been a while.

Sanded it down then primed it /w sealer primer, then sprayed the paint on...It came out kind of dull and crappy due to cold weather, but it was better than cracks and black marks.

Sensor just makes sure that air is being pulled in. Only sensor that matters is one closer to the TB, if that was not connected, ur engine will turn off, for example if your whole intake shifted off and u started the car, or it was driving when it happened, its not fun, trust me.....

Even after reset the CEL may still stay on. jus drive it and CEL will eventually go off. 200 miles i think

no, his CEL will not go off...pull the codes and tell us what you got.. if its IAT than we can troubleshoot it, it could be bad or a bad connection. if you reset the ECU and the code presents itself again, it obviously has a fault. codes typically do not show until they present upon 3 start ups. thats usually an OK rule of thumb.
