so you care about noise??
if not, get a greddy cat back...it drones, it's loud but puts out some nice hp....
if you like it quiet get a b pipe (courtesy not stillen) and put your stock muffler, less hp but quieter
for the maxima, it appears that the muffler is the key to keeping her quiet.

I've got the Courtesy b-pipe and muffler on my 98 and it rumbles quite a bit. The most annoying noise occurs in the ~2500rpm range, which unfortunately is right where I cruise at when I'm not on the highway.
You might want to look into the Cattmann Y-pipe as well, installing it on my ride made a big difference. The unit itself isn't particularly loud, put it increases the exhaust flow enough that things get louder at the tailpipe. Idle with the A/C on is quite noticable. It's also pretty easy to install.
