remote truck pop install with a few pics
okay so i saw a thread on here a while back about a remote trunk pop and i have been thinking bout doing this myself as my 95 gxe didnt come with it. so i went to the junk yard i didnt want to have to get a door panel with the pop already in it so i just got the push button switch, brown relay, and the trunk solenoid all the wiring is already there.so this is what needs to be done.
one remove door panel and cut a hole for the switch i used a drill bit on a die grinder and started small until it fit. the wire connecter for the push button is behind the door panel taped in blue tape
once u get it fitted move on to the trunk you will need a 10mm socket pop the carpet off to gain access to the trunk latch and remove the cable that pops the trunk you will see the brown harness for the relay and the connector for the trunk pop solenoid u need to put the soleniod in there are 2 holes already in the latch assembly for it hook the cable of the solenoid in the latch and mount the solenoid then put the relay in and connect the solenoid i have a aftermarket alarm with aux so i programmed it to open the trunk here are a few more pics so you get an idea hope someone can use this info
the solenoid
the relay
this is how it should look mine works and i love it hope this helps someone
oh dont forget to sand the metal where the solenoid bolts up

naw the manual lever is non functional thats what the button in the door is for it opens the trunk from the inside of the car now. i tapped in to the solenoid its self for the remote

i think it was an option for se's maybe?? cause they had the sport package the gle's got all the other stuff like moonroof and leather heated seats with remote entry and abs. se's got the spoiler and the fogs of which i have neither.

My GXE came with it, along with variable int wiper, power driver seat, and sunroof. Perhaps that was some type of package offered for GXE's?
Anyway I had no idea this wasn't standard either, nice writeup in case my next 4th gen doesn't come with this.

I'm always surprised by what wasn't standard on these cars. I realize it was fifteen years ago, but damn, no intermittent wipers, no electric trunk release. The one that perpetually astonishes me is that it was possible, by 1997, to buy a car that did not have ABS, especially one which is supposed to be an entry-level near-luxury sport sedan.

Yes it will make the manual pull lever not work you cant do just what you saiD but if you have a fob and keyless entry this would be standard on your vehical
