ECU Replacement
What are the rules on getting another ECU? I have a 95 AUTO SE. Does it have to be same year? My father in law was talking about different colors marked on them. I pulled mine and it has an orange nissan sticker with numbers on it, a Green color marker line on the left and what looks like a Blue 1 on the right. Since talking to my father in law I dont know what to look for. He said the colors have to match. He's a mechanic.

I'd assume if it's replaced with an ECM from another automatic 95-98 matching your car's spec [fed or cali] it should be just plug and play...? (no clue on colors)
Do correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the wiring is the same on those years as long as you have the same spec.

Ralph that would be awesome. As long as it starts and drives I'm ok with some codes. Hopefully this is the final thing that would fix my 95. Oh and the ecu's are a pita to get unscrewed.

That will be my next tool investment. It took forever with small wire pliers and squeezing the hell out of the screws to get them loose. Everything else was too big. I'll have to find some time to get the ecu. Wifes trans in the 00 grand prix took a crap. It's all In pieces waiting on the pressure solenoid to come in.

theirs like 17 different ECUs for the 95 every maxima has different ECU numbers and almost imposible to find the exact one for yours. your gonna have to buy one and get it reprogrammed like i did mine cause it will not start its not plug and play like others are saying here i know from experience and if you find one thats plug and play then wow your lucky.
i paid 100 for mine and 100 for the program and later found out its a damn cali spec ECU so my CEL is on for CALI sensors my fed car dont have but it runs so all well.

Found a pDF list from JWT that lists all the binary codes FOR all maximas going back to 85 I believe. I typed in my binary code on Google and it came up. Shows what year, transmission and all. Saw some on here that were for sale back in 2010. Its possible without reprogramming. Since ralph doesnt live too far id rather just scoop his up.
