Finding switched ignition source

I'm installing my new 270a mechman alternator and the voltage regulator requires a connection to a switched ignition source. Where would be the best place to tap into this wire and what does it look like?

one of the 2 small wires that plugged into the nissan alternator is switched 12 volts, the white/red stripe wire. It will have 12 volts when the ignition switch is in the ON or START positions.
