I bought a brand new ignition coil for cylinder 3 and swapped it in, to no avail. The error message still says P0303 after clearing codes. Car runs like crap.

I swapped ignition coils between cylinder 1 and cylinder 3, cleared codes and still get the P0303.

My question is, how do you check to see if injector 3 is "clicking" when the car is at idle? I can only access injectors 2, 4, and 6 with a stethoscope.

With enough of an angle, I believe you can get to the #3 injector from one side of the intake, but probably not with a stethoscope probe. A long screwdriver will work just fine.

Have you checked the #3 plug?

You can ohm out the injector from the connector next to the timing cover without having to remove the intake, but that will only tell you whether or not it's working electrically, it could still be a physical problem (pintle stuck or screen clogged with debris).

If you have access to a scope and low amp probe, diagnosis beyond those simple checks will be quite a bit easier.

Also, how quickly does it set the P0303? Did you use an OE coil, or aftermarket?

Hello pmohr,

Thank you for your quick response. I just changed all spark plugs when I bought the new ignition coil.

When you sent me your response, I was outside checking the resistance of all of the injectors. #3 injector is shot. The resistance is 2M ohms whereas the other 2 (#1 and #5) read between 11 and 12 ohms.

I will have to take the intake manifold to check the wiring to the injector. If wiring is good, I will have to replace the injector.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. When pulling the spark plug out of #3, the spark plug had zero smell of gasoline!
