Q45/J30 front brakes on A32

Went to a San Antonio junk yard that really was nice how they had all the makes categorized.....Made a swap in the junkyard placing 93 J30 twin piston calipers, torque member and rotors on an A32 chassis! The only problem I see is the splash shield will need to be removed because it interferes with this thicker rotor... Other than that if 93/94 J30 pads are ordered they will fit without all that milling this and that! I figured I would investigate how they fit because I wanna do both my 3rd and 4th Gen with beefier brakes to ensure I have the power to stop if needed!

Why no pics? Good job though. Wonder why we've never seen this used before?

Q45

If you use 1998 Q45 rotors and calipers you will need to drill out mounting holes (on spindle) for front calipers. You will need to reuse Q45 mounting bolts. Also, the 98' Q45 rotor will need to be turned down a few mm to clearance caliper.

According to Autozones specs the rotors are basically the same diameter, but the J30 is 28mm thick vs A32 22mm. FWIW the A33a (00-01) is same diameter but 26mm and thats what I have. The J30 rotor is 53.7mm thick overall while the A32 is only 49.3mm. Not sure how thats going to work out good or bad. I know the A33 and A34 stuff swaps over with just enlarging the bolt holes on the knuckle.

If you want bigger brakes you can also look into 02-03 (16"+ wheel) or better yet 04-08 (17"+ wheel).

IMO upgrading to a 02-03 A33 isn't an upgrade since this rotors as well as 00-01 A33's are prone to warpage due too the inboard rotor surface removal of about 1" to clear the larger steering knuckles of the 5th Gen Maxima...Loss of significant mass that acted as a heat sink and causing the 00-01 and larger 02-03 to be warpage prone! The only problem I see is the J30 rotor rubbing against the brake splash shield.....I'll remove one of these on a A32 junkyard dog and see how it fits....4.4mm isn't alot too me but the rotor set evenly between the caliper and again the only noticeble problem was the splash interference....as far as the torque member bolt comparison between the 3rd, 4th, J30, and Q45, they're identical requiring no drilling or honing up the the larger 5th and 6th Gen bolt size...

Just get 6th gen front brakes... I did that and I have over 100,000 miles on the rotors. No warping, where as I went through 3 sets of 5.5 gen rotors before hand in less than 60k miles.

I would like to go with the 6th Gen setup on the 4th Gen, but I wanna try this J30 dual piston caliper setup and do the same on my 3rd Gen as well! I've done this 6th Gen mod on my 5.5th Gen and other 5th Gens as well and love the set up just preferred to use the same size torque member bolt as the Oem 4th/J30...Once I get the splash shield saga solved I'll use Powerstop Xdrilled & slotted rotor and their Z26 extreme pads which are awesome as hell...

Sorry to say but they use the same size bolt for the torque member to knuckle!! There's no need to machine down the same rotor that was working together with the same torque member, caliper it was working with on a J30 or Q45! Would you have to machine down the rotor of a 6th Gen rotor, caliper and torque member if I used it on a 5th Gen? Hell no!!!! The hardware is identical between the 4th Gen, J30, and Early Q45's I believe that's a 12mm bolt and 5th Gen on up are 14mm bolts.
