I have read the threads and watched the video, and it looks like the job is something I could easily do.

I did notice though that in many threads people talk about the "pins" that are a real pain in the **** to deal with, and I am happy to just buy new ones, if it will save me hassle.

So what are these pins? In the diagram below my best guess is the thing labelled 54428M.

Also, is there any other source for these things other than the dealer?

Your assumption is correct. I used a pneumatic impact gun with a wide round bit to push mine out. I can't tell you if they are a dealer only part or not.

Part number 54428M can sometimes be difficult to seperate from the bushing. I wouldn't run out and buy new ones, use some lube and work smart.

Use an Impact gun, 6 point sockets, lots of pb blaster. The bolt are different lengths, watch where they go. Chase them in and out with pb blaster before you reassemble.

I drove another car over the control arm and proceed to loosen the nut that holds the pin in, the pin will turn until it meets the body of the lca and the nut should loosen up, I had more trouble getting a 27mm nut for it!
