looking for a crank pulley

Hi i'm looking for a better then stock crank shaft pulley.
Something that won't break the bank.
What do you guys recommend.
Also should i change the crank shaft oil seal(is this considered the main seal)

Try googling unorthodox racing and checkout their crank pullys to see what they have for your application

Stillen has them and so does ralco, but you'll have to get an underdrive pulley if you want a better than Oem one.
Can't find stock size lightweight unfortunately; not for 3.0 anyways.
Don't get obx.

And yes, replace the seal behind it since you have the pulley off already.

$500 for a UR? I hope not. I picked mine up for well under $100.

What ever you get, make sure the snout has a steel outer diameter so the oil seal wont wear into the aluminum. Also make sure it has a steel timing ring with the correct pattern for the crank sensor. The only difference between a VQ30 and a VQ35 pulley is the timing ring.

Yes change the seal.

Search for it here. From what I recall, it's an ok pulley and no complaints.

Don't know much about the following, but I read this while researching cosmo pulleys. "Ive heard that these sometimes wear out where the seal rides on the aluminum, unorthodox pulleys have a steel ring slipped over (where the seal is) so that there is no wear and no leaks."

Another guy responded with "As for the oil seal issue make sure the snout of your pulley has a steel insert. If its all aluminum the seal will eat the aluminum and develop a leak over time."

If you go with an underdrive pulley, you'll need a new smaller belt. And don't forget to blue loctite the bolt etc. The shop manual recommends replacing the front oil seal any time the crank pulley is removed. This may or may not be overkill, but considering that the rubber oil seal is only under $10 from a Nissan Dealer (part # 13510-31U00) you might as well do it. Simply stick a flat bladed screwdriver in there and pop the oil seal out. Coat the new oil seal with motor oil and pop/tap it back in place. Real easy.

On Ebay for the last few months, Stillen has been selling their underdrive pulley for $99, whereas it's normally $145 to $170 on their website, depending on sales. Last time I looked, only a couple more were available at that price.

But, I will conclude that UDP's are basically worthless. You're better off spending your mod money elsewhere. Now if your crank pulley is worn out and needs replacement, I suppose an underdrive pulley is an option as the cost of a new OEM crank pulley is much higher.
