E Brake Light On But Not Pulled

For some odd reason my Maxima's E Brake light is on, but its not pulled. What might be caused by this? Is this some sort of code? Can i get it fixed? Its became very annoying.
Thanks

Check your brake fluid. It could be low.

See pages 2-8 and 2-9 of your owner's manual for reference. That light serves double duty.

IMO, everyone should have an Owner's Manual; and have read it. Pick one up for peanuts on Ebay.

I doubt that the parking brake lever or switch is the problem. I've never heard of one needing adjustment. The problem is most likely low brake fluid.

either

-brake fluid level is low from a leak or needing new brakes
-the sensor that detects the E-brake being on is wonking out
-the light sometimes comes on in cold weather but thats probably the sensor wonking out again

This isn't always true. This could also be low brake fluid. Cold weather causes the brake fluid to contract. If the brake fluid level is getting close to causing the warning light, then the cold fluid will trigger the light. If the light is on when you start the car and it goes out after the car has been driven for a while, that's your clue for low brake fluid as the engine heat warms up the brake fluid and it expands.

thats why i also said it could be the fluid level, my Hardbody in the cold the E-brake light would come on. i would just push the E-brake down another 2-3mm and it would go off
