Vq30de-k swap? "Easy"? Or Boltons sufficient
97 5sp max all stock and 110,000 miles on the clock. Keeping it a daily (230miles round trip a day) but fun car to play with at the strip.
Would it be easier for the entire motor swap? Curious because the 00vi manifold swap just sounds really difficult and a lot of work for that 20ish hp gain. Would the 4th gen 5sp work with the 5th gen motor? also would the ecu work with it or would I have to take the ecu out of the 5th gen as well?
Or was just considering doing a full exhaust and jwt ecu and maybe spray. Since my Car kinda falls on its face at high end of the rpms.

You say that your car falls on its face at high rpm. You have fairly low miles. Before you go to all the work of installing a different engine, make sure your current engine is running as it should. Have you changed your knock sensor? If so, are you running premium? New spark plugs, throttle body cleaned?

Doing an entire motor swap would be by far much harder than an 00vi swap. Youd still be encountering basically the same issues as far as eliminating codes goes. Just do the 00vi and then go ahead and dig in with all the bolt ons your little heart desires if you get bitten by the mod bug.

Sorry wrong choice of words not quite fall on its face. Just doesn't pull much harder after like mid 5k range. Like it feels restricted.
I thought about trying the y pipe upgrade but would it help the top end out in the higher rpm range

The 00VI after having done it a million different ways is a pointless route to take unless you're tuning.
If you spend the money on tuning.... Minus well buy a VQ35DE and swap it in and just leave everything else alone, you'll have more power and less down time fooling around and it's cheaper.
If you're dead set on keeping the 3.0, the most beneficial mods I've ever came in order... was....
-Headers
-6MT Swap
-Intake Spacers
-3" Catback
Everything else was meh and the power gains of tuning weren't meeting a good enough cost/hp ratio.
And keep in mind the ONLY way you really make any gains on a DE-K is with tuning and revving higher, without those two things a DE-K or 00VI is useless.

The 00VI addresses that exactly. Now, you could do the 00VI or VQ30DE-K but essentially wind up with the same power capability, so why not chose the easier mod of the 2, the 00VI? And, I think the VQ30DE with 00VI might be a smidge better than a full blown VQ30DE-K due to the older engine having slighter hotter cam profile....you know, newer engines getting more emissions friendly cam profiles.
If you do a y-pipe and 00VI your top end will be glorious. The Y-pipe improves the top end by itself, and so does the 00VI. So combined = YES. Now, you also have to temper this advice with the fact that when it is all said and done, the 00VI probably gains you only 0.1 sec in the 1/4 mile. The fact is, it's the same engine with better top end breathing, (the bottom end was already great) so don't expect a night and day difference, like a VQ35 swap.
The 00VI mod is great for you if you're already happy with your car's power, but you just want it to finish things up top
