Passenger Side headlight burned out

So about a week ago, I turn on my headlights at night and notice my passenger side headlight went out, I just said "oh no big deal..just needs a new bulb"

I went to a shop I know but rarely go to now, and they said my connector for the wiring was bad and burned out the bulb...

I said "well it was working perfectly fine before..did you use the right bulb?"

then they just kept explaining the connector and stuff, wouldn't tell me the price...sound like they didn't even want to help.

and I pull up to autozone, Pop the hood..they LEAVE the orange bulb on top of my headlight underneath the hood??? Really... I go ahead and take a look at the connector.. It looks perfectly fine and not burned out..corrosion or stuff..none. looks pretty much the same as all 4 connectors for the headlights.

Anyone have a video where I can do this myself and what bulb # should I be using? I heard its 1157 or 1158?

If the wire connection is bad where can I get that? What is the part called? I went to autozone, they didn't have any..

What are the odds my connector is bad? it could just be the bulb right?

I dont think having the wrong bulb in your corner parking lights will cause your headlight to burn out. But every 4th gen is complicated in its own way. 1157 is the correct bulb size, and is the what goes into the socket next to the headlights. Some people like my self use 1156. The reason is that it has a brighter output and is a single filament bulb, But its not a direct fit, you have to mod the area where the bulbs sits in. The 1157 is dual filament. If you mod the connector you can use it as a turn signal for your parking lights, but if you have no intentions of doing that then you don't need a dual filament, but that's what Nissan calls for the correct bulb. Did you check to see if another bulb worked? Are you running high wattage HID's? That can burn out your connector sockets. As far as getting new Harness sockets those are easily found at a junkyard.

I dont run HIDS or anything, I'm just looking for the bulb to be back on which is the stock ones. so that would be bulb 1157 right?

If I am looking to replace the wiring, Its the harness sockets? Are those available on Ebay/rockauto? In TX I dont seem to find many 4th gens in junkyards.. I pulled out a 97 trunk/grille/rear bumper from that junkyard that only had one 4th gen out of like 400 cars.. its crazy.

Are all the harness sockets the same for side headlights? I don't want to be buying the harness for the front headlights..Just the sides.

I find it weird that they're telling me the stock bulb burned out and I don't run any Mods to the wiring that would cause it to burn out the side headlights.

Quit trying to over complicate things. The car is 19 years old... light bulbs burn out. Buy new ones and be done with it.

Josh,

Why not take your car to that mechanic your family has used for the past twenty years?

Josh,

There are headlights and turn signals on the front of the car. The two big things that you use to see things with at night are called headlights. They use clear bulbs.

The turn signals use the number 1157 bulbs. Sounds like the parts store people worked on those.

Did you call a turn signal a headlight?

What part of Texas are you in? 4th Gen's are 30 deep @ just one LKQ location in Houston....

Nah, all turn signals work, just the side headlight bulb burned out. Just gonna replace the bulb, I don't think the shop I went to want to even help or do it especially on a Friday where everyone is just waiting for the weekend. Then if the bulb don't solve it.. Then I guess it's the harness sockets.. Can those be aftermarket or they have to be oem?

Do the high beams work on both headlights? if so, your wiring might be ok.
Another test is switching the passenger side bulb to the drivers side. also the drivers side bulb to the passenger side. Then turn the headlights on. If the passenger side bulb lights up and the drivers side does not, you have a bulb problem. If the passenger side still does not work, you have a wiring issue.

Note that I am referring only to the headlights. Common sense says to replace both headlight bulbs at once. The remaining one will fail very soon.

Ok so the socket has burned out or the fuse, which wiring socket do I use? 9004/9007 or the 9005? 9005 seems like the smaller one that wires to the clearance light but I want to make sure.. This is from autozone by the way. 9004 is for front headlight socket as I can see I need clearance socket # and if u can tell me what fuse # it is that'd be great.. Couldn't find the socket # by searching

Josh,

Trying to help you is very frustrating. You call a marker light a headlight.

You did that at the auto parts store too. I know that because the bulb numbers you mentioned pertain to headlights, not marker lights.

Please have some clue what things are called before posting here or talking to an auto parts person.

Use the search function. Of course, that would require that you know what things are called.....

Jesus christ dude put a new bulb in it. Did you even look at the old one to see if the bulb was burnt out or had a broken filament?

Sometimes those sockets can be nasty. If it is you might have to spray it with contact cleaner, or something close enough like WD40 or PBlaster.
