Diffrences between BOSE radios in I30

Is there any differences between Bose haed units? I have a 1997,5 model with the older type. I can buy a 1999 unit for good money. Is it worth the hassle to upgrade (if it is a upgrade)? All I can see is that the newer one has digital sound correction instead of manual and looks fresh. Will it work in my car? Will it sound beter, different? I also have a dealer installed cd changer (clarion), will it also work with the newer unit? Thanks.

Yes.

Comparing my 98 to my friend's 99, I was like The most appealing thing about the 99 Bose HU is that it looks cooler/more modern than the previous versions (95-6-7-8). To really get an upgrade in sound you would have to get an aftermarket HU. To be compatible with your Bose speakers you need a line converter.

Just plug an play. Of the ones I've seen from 97-99, all Bose HUs had an extra output for the CD changer that was rarely used.

It's a cosmetic upgrade. Bypass all of that and get a 2005-2007 (?) Pathfinder Bose. It's nearly plug and play and will have AUX capability if you buy the adaptor. There are threads here discussing install instructions.

95-98 early production 98 are different in terms of cosmetic look and internal and external functions. 95-98 use manuel ***** for bass and trebel. The 99 are digital so to say. The 95-98 are very problematic, but in my opinion sound better with bose. The bass doesnt sound as good at low notes with the 99. Theres a guy who repairs them for 250 and installes aux for 60 dollars on stock bose radio and guarantees his work. If you switch to after market headunit you will lose the genuine sound of the bose.

I think my bose sounds better with my android head unit and a 4 band eq. I have much more bass now than the stock head unit ever gave me. Good clean bass to, not the distorted ghetto bass.
