Bent Front End? I sure hope not!
Just wanted to post really quickly before I head off to rest, my car was involved in an accident (fender bender, front end) before I got it. I know I'll have to replace the front fenders, bumper with fogs, grill, headlights (they work, but are crooked), and hood. I wanted to ask before I dug into this, is there a way to straighten out the hood? I've tried a ratchet strap attached to the hook where it closes and didn't want to bend it too much. Just wondering if getting a new hood with the arms would straighten this out. I looked when I was replacing some parts underneath the car and can't see any visible damage (i.e. bent frame or pinched paint) but it may so slight at one point and very visible at the front. I'll probably just head down to the you pull it or junk yard and grab some replacements and see how they turn out. I'll post more as the white girl gets a makeover.

There are alignment checks you can make. The Nissan service manual (FSM) has the info in section BT.
Since you didn't say what year car you have and there are differences in the different years of the 4th gen, I don't know if I'm giving you the actual information for your car.
Below is a link to the BT section of the 1998 FSM. See pages 44 through 47.

If you have a different year, go here - http://boredmder.com/FSMs/Nissan/Maxima/ - and click on BT.pdf. The page numbers are not the same for all the different years, so go to the end of the index and click on Body Alignment.
