My accelerator pedal has a lot of slack in it. like a good 1/2 inch before you feel pressure so the car starts moving. I looked at the cable by the pedal and apparentley, theres supposed to be some type of little rubber stopper that prevents this slack from happening and keeps things nice an tight.... mines missing, so I wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with this problem and how did you fix it?

Is there some type of replacement I can use? what are my options?

To correct for slack in the pedal simply adjust the nuts under the hood on the cable bracket attached to the engine... 7mm vertical play in the cable or less, without tension in the cables, is ideal IMO.
Make sure the engine is warmed up first so you don't fail to account for the fast idle cam as well, otherwise you're going to have tension on the cables as soon as it warms up.

I also adjusted them at the throttle body. I didn't know we had anything to keep it tight besides the nuts.

Good info guys. What i did, was cut like a 1/2 inch piece of vacuum tubing I had laying around, slit one side of it, slipped that over the slack right behind the pedal and zipped tied it. SO far so great. Awesome acceleration, no slack, and idles perfect, because I did take into consideration the idle speed, like BenL said. pedal feels really nice now. Honestly, never knew that our cars had a little piece of rubber behind our accelerators....

Theres a video on youtube on how to do this, but he uses a piece of nylon tubing spacer and a hose clamp. Well see how long mine last before I have to go that route....

BTW- it only took like 15-20 to do everything....
