The next step in the project-Ride Performance/Maintaence

I got my 4th gen 3years ago with 125k miles.. Rolling in 136k now, I have had no issues with this car execpt with battery problems causing not to start but that was 2years ago. I love this car it really stands out from the crowd..

In 3years of ownership I have only done the following,

, fix big oil leak at 135k (timing chain covers/both valve cover gaskets/oil pan/new oil/knock sensor, oil pressure switch..stopped the leak) had the leak for 2.5 years..

New regulator for my drivers rear door.. Failed on me at 126k miles.

Got CEL back in November at 132k miles for EGR, put in 93 octane in and revved to 6.5k rpm pretty hard for 4 months, CEL went away at 133.5k miles in February.. Never came back in 6 months..still off to this day.yes the bulb works.. Supposed it was clogged cause of using 87 octane for 2years.. Never putting that crap again.

Now that being said.. I didn't do much to it under the hood other than the big oil leak job back in June. Now I want to help it feel like I can step on the gas and it'll go, right now it feels like it runs like new but can run better performance wise... It's completely stock under the hood.. I have not changed any of the filters like air filter and so for...

What are some things I can change out to make my car run better? Spark plugs..air filter...clean any throttles? At 136k miles It runs and feels brand new.. Stepping on the gas I feel that "slight" sluggish in it. Sometimes it'll hesitate and shake the steering wheel a bit at 2.5-3k Rpms.. Not all the time though..sometimes it'll rev to 6.5k fairly quick.. I know it can run better but I can't see it. What do you all recommend? Being I have owned this car for 3years

It would run a lot better without those mudflaps and that dated sunroof deflector...

Seriously though, you stated only like 5 times that it runs like new, yet you have some hesitation sometimes...that would be an oxymoron.

You've been here long enough to know what to do. Do a full tune-up.
Air filter
NGK sparkplugs
Fuel filter
PCV Valve
Drain and fill coolant
Drain and fill transmission (added bonus would be to drop the pan, clean sludge, replace filter/screen and magnets as necessary)

Clean the EGR, throttle body, back of IACV, spray the MAF with appropriate MAF cleaner, run a few bottles of fuel injector cleaner through the system.

If you really want to spoil your car, have your injectors serviced and new pintle caps installed.

Seafoam threw break booster hose into the intake. you can look up guide on YouTube.⅓ in the tank⅓ in the intake manifold and ⅓ of can in oil, change after 100 miles or there about(if its not time for oil change save that ⅓ till it is). Ngk platinum plugs, wix oil filter, you haven't changed air filter in 3 years? If so...its time.

not sure why you posted this, you stated everything in your OP. But id say seafoam through oil and brake booster other than what you stated. I'd do that before you change your plugs though.

I've heard stories about people having problems about seafoam after the treatment? Some say they had issues afterward? But I guess that depends on who is doing it and doing it right... To clean is to get better and not worse.. Well I'm going to start what I can do right now and get the others done.. One by one so I don't run into "mysterious" problems if I did all of this at once. Finding out the problem after.. Well on i go.

+1 regarding servicing fuel injectors. I had mine done around the 200k mark. The car runs smoother, and power and mileage are up.

I don't recall if your knock sensor is new. A working one can benefit from the premium gas you and I feed the car.

135?? rookie, i have 273,000 and maxy runs smooth as ice. the k&n air filter helps a bit, i use plus, i think some year maximas just run better than others, vq or not. that's why i never took out the original motor, leaks and all. did my knock sensor recently and i can go 475,000 on a full tank if i drive normally. don't mess with the motor too much, do a warpspeed y-pipe and cattback and you'll love the added power.

$225-275.00 i think was what i paid last year. it does change the sound, your gonna want a muffler at the very least to make it sound better. through the stock cattback it's going to sound groany, i did a monza cattback and she sounds a lot better. this looks cool, don't know what it's gonna sound like though. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-5-INLET-4-BLACK-SLANT-TIP-PERFORMANCE-STAINLESS-STEEL-OVAL-EXHAUST-MUFFLER-/151588057983?hash=item234b5a337f&vxp=mtr

I added the wind deflector to my sunroof 2 years ago.

I am still looking for a set of mud flaps.

That's exactly why I recommend TCW3. It's completely harmless to all engine interior parts but also achieves the same results........

Seafoam didn't harm either of my maxs at all. You just have to make sure you sucks it in through your intake very slowly, and change your oil within I've been told 50-200 miles when adding into oil. I put a little less than 1/3 through intake, 1/3 in oil, then the rest (little over 1/3) in the gas tank with a full tank. I tried it out because why not? These are cheap cars and have only heard bad reviews of people that didn't do It properly.

i never put that $hit in my oil, that's what chevron techron is for, tune up in a bottle that works. seafoam cleans out intake and throttle body. chevron is injectors and fuel system cleaning.

There's nothing "sporty" about that bra. You've done the perfect trifecta of

Don't get me wrong though, love your Max otherwise.

My first "mod" when I got my Max was taking off the mudflaps and burning them. The world is a much better place now.

Ok so something weird happened today....

back In July my battery and brake warning lights went off on ignition mode..all my other warning lights were working execpt those 2..... So..the brake and battery warning lights came back on today When I was on ignition mode..Now all my warning lights work. I was supposing it was a burned out bulb that I was gonna do eventually but guess not. They remain off when the car is running.

Don't know how it just magically appeared back on again. It wasn't really an issue but if it were the oil light or CEL that'd be a concern to me. I'm gonna see if it still remains on in ignition mode...

Update: Well 2nd time i went on ignition mode the battery and brake lights disappeared again lol..well atleast i got it on vid when the battery and brake lights appeared

Yeah on my 3rd time on ignition mode they appeared back on again..both of them, now I seem they go on when they want to but remain off when the car is running. Weird heh, guess I'm gonna have to see if my alternator is okay.. Cause I know for sure its not a burnt out bulb behind the dash

And no codes, My cel works and remains off when the car is running. as soon as I turned off the car and put it on igniton mode for the 4th time..the battery and brake lights disappeared again. Lol looks like it's an on and off thing now. The car starts up perfectly so...
