Help identify component

98 infiniti i30. One-family ownership (for what thats worth).

What is the electrical sensor in the picture, and where is it supposed to be installed? Its half black and half grey, with a little plunger (that doesnt move) on the black side. Two-wire connection. Pic taken from drivers side, from above brake proportioning valve.

Recently replaced MAF. Discovered this piece "just hanging there". "Where did it come from, where did it go?"

Help identify component

Air intake temperature sensor, it goes into the duct of the air intake housing. Feel around for a hole its in the back of it.

The hole is very low in the black plastic air intake, on the inboard (engine) side - before the air filter.

I can see it now with the filter hat on - but I had to take the filter and hat off to find it initially.
