Ordered r34 headlights....

So I ordered them off ebay...it says they come with an adapter for 9005 and 9006 bulbs...so I ordered those too...I plan on doing the retro over the spring...they are black housing with the chrome reflectors...my question is are there any fitment issues when I go to install them? I'm looking for more function than style...even though the look is awesome...thanks!

You want function over style, you say? Well, you bought the wrong headlights. Light output sucks on these. Do a projector retrofit and then you'll have function and style.

Personally, I've never had fitment issues with these lights. A few have reported issues, but my hunch is user error/poor installation.

Thanks wiz....I say function mostly because my OE headlights keep yellowing out...I've restored them 3 times with the 3m kit...I used to restore headlights in a shop.....so what's a good projector to put in them?

Let me know if you need some projectors done

But you may or may not have to dremel out the holes in the upper rad support and/or space them for them to fit 100% like stock. They can fit kind of funky. And they do perform poorly.

Send me a PM when you're ready and we can discuss options. There are quite a few and price varies depending on what you choose to go with.

Check the link in my sig for general pricing and pictures of my work.

Ok...so I am in the process of installing these....few things I have noticed is there really is no way for the corner light to stay in place....and the brackets do not like up with tabs on the housing very well...so after 12 hours at work 7pm to 7am I pondered things to make these for right...brackets...I put 1 washer on the top and 2 on the bottom made them line up with the tabs very well....now on to the next problem...holding the corner light in place...there is a hole in the center of the bracket as well as molded hole in the center between the two tabs...they line up nicely...so I took a 1/4 420 tap and tapped the hole and used a 1/4 20 Alan head bolt and washer to hold it in place...not sure if its been done before but it help with fender gap as well

You try switching the brackets? Some have reported that the "L" and "R" were marked incorrectly. You shouldn't have to customize anything to get those lights to fit properly...

Yea i swapped the brackets...I read alot of old threads on different ways of fitting them...I didn't drill out the factory holes in the core support...the screws went in as far out on the outside of the holes as they could which left the tabs not lining up perfectly...just a very small amount off...which is why I used the washers.. after I bolted the lights in the corners pulled out a little..which is why I tapped that hole and pulled it right back in...they look really good imo...I do believe I will have the retro done soon...they are better than my stock hazed lights...but the beam pattern is very scattered...

Now to work on the grill fitment

If I had to do it again, I'd probably go quad retro.

Speaking of these lights, I ordered them last week. Installed them in yesterday. Idk if I'm a complete idiot but without reading much info on how to install these, I put the brackets to their correct side, and not the opposite as some claim. Screwed them in, with the plastic mount side set furthest back (otherwise there is not enough room to make the lights sit flush). I made sure the corners sat nicely first before having to drill new holes for the inner area. These lights are pretty odd. The inner mounting bolts that stick out of the housing can't be completely pushed in, otherwise it wouldn't look right. I only put the screws on half way, so the inner part of the housing isn't tucked in too far. As far as beam pattern, what the f*. I knew they would suck, but after putting in the bulbs correctly, they were aiming at the ground. Meanwhile the headlight sits straight.

Light output on these absolutely suck. I could not live with it myself and ended trading someone for a stock set again.
