Replacement strut for older D2 coilover

Hey guys, I just got off the phone with D2 about getting a replacement strut for my leaking front left one. They told me the replacement parts for my coilovers were discontinued about 5 years ago. I don't remember exactly when I got my coilovers but it was from a group deal here and I am sure they are at least 10 years old. They are purple (d2's are now black). So I am curious, has anyone dealt with this issue? What did you do? Is there a company out there that sells replacements for these older units?

You could have it rebuilt. Talk to schmellyfart as I know he's had this done.

Granted I have KSports, but its all the same anyways.

I sent mine out to Feal suspension to be rebuilt about a year ago, and purchased a pair of Swift springs while I was at it. I had a pleasant experience with them, and wouldn't hesitate to send them more shocks to be rebuilt.

Thanks for the info., I'll check them out. Also, please ignore the PM I sent you. I sent it before checking this thread.

*edit* How old are your coilovers? I bought mine probably at least 10 years ago now, D2 sells replacement struts for the newer black coilovers. Mine are the older purple ones. That is where I am running into a problem.

Can you take a photo of the coilovers you have?

Sure. Here is the deal that I got in on https://maxima.org/forums/group-deal...-miss-out.html . I did not scroll through all of the pages but I probably got mine at some point in 2005. What specifically do you need to see in the picture? Mine are purple, and the current ones that they sell and service are black in color. The guy at D2 told me that changes have been made between the purple and black models, and the black struts will not thread into the purple top hats.

Mine are some of the original design with the silver 50mm shocks and CNC'd aluminum lower mounts. I had sent in one older 50mm silver, and the somewhat newer (2011 ish) 50mm black to be rebuilt.

I don't know about D2, but KSport has switched to 52mm fronts requiring another fair chunk of change for new mounts and collars in addition to the shock itself; which is why I went with the rebuild.
