anyone lower the front only?

Anyone lower just the front end of the 4th gen max?
Iv seen it done on 5th and 6thg gen maxs and altimas, but not on 4th gen.

Only reason I ask, is because i LOVE the comfort level of my max, but the front looks higher in front then the rear, I would love to drop the front just a bit to keep the stock comfort and have it look a little more modern....

So if you have done it, what springs? shocks? Pics? And comfort level?

Thanks....

I just did my 06 altima 2 weeks ago, had a big wheel gap in the front, so i only did the front, 2" drop on springs, it leveled the cat out, and ride is still good, not bouncy at all

I have no experience with other Maxima generations but with respect to the 4th Gen I will submit that if comfort (or maintaining comfort) is your goal you'll likely want to leave things as they are.

Although suspension modifications in the 4th Gen can and will improve handling, typically those modifications do nothing to improve or maintain ride comfort and noise.

My statements may not be fact in all situations but may be more personal opinion.

5ths and 6ths have a bit more rear end sag than 4ths.

Maxspeed or Tokico springs up front would probably level it out nicely. Shouldn't affect ride comfort as long as your struts and other components are in good shape.

3rd gens suffer from this as well and I have been on a personal crusade against saggy rear syndrome. It actually drives me crazy and I've always been surprised that more people don't notice it and find it aesthetically displeasing like I do.

It's not actually that the rear is "saggy" - it's that the rear wheel well arches are lower than the front arches. So even if you have perfectly level wheel gap, the rear of the car looks lower.

Because of this I actually have multiple sets of springs. I have a pair of Eibach (1.5" drop) and a pair of Intrax (1.75" drop). On my turbo blue VE I have Eibachs in the rear and Intrax up front. On my stock black VE I have Eibachs in the front and stockers on the rear.

See that Altima looks perfect, iv had many setups, spring/strut, coilovers, slammed, whatever, but now older with kids, I want that comfort with a better look. I swear, if the front was like .75-1" lower I think it would look perfect. I agree with the Tokico springs too, I just hope someone has done it, before I dive in full force. Lol

I would give it a shot. I always wondered about doing this. You may want to cut the bumpstops a little as well.

James92SE,
That's a nice ride! I loved my 92 Max.

Damn good observation about the wheel wells being different size, didn't even realized that until I saw a few on the road. Nissan can be such knuckleheads sometimes....

If you have an auto trans, front springs from a manual trans will lower it a little.

Interesting observation. So now since aftermarket springs, such as my H&Rs, make only one set of performance springs for the maxima, a 97 Max auto with H&Rs would have the front sitting slightly lower than a 97 Max 5-speed with H&Rs.

Rear springs might be sagging. Get quick struts, which come with brand new springs that will raise the back of the car to original height.
