water on passeger floor question
My 1997 had water on the passenger side floor on Friday. It was 102 degrees and my wife had the AC cranking. Because of this water it got my ECM wet and it messed up the car for a while. I put the car on the lift and I messed around with the water drain hole and it must have been a little clogged because about a pint of water came out. Anyway... I drove the car around all day Saturday without the AC on and it was fine. Yesterday I drove the car around all day with the AC cranking and it was fine. No water in the car. Only a small amount on the ground. I think I may know what the problem was and I wanted to ask here. On my new Toyota... when I turn the AC on it automatically turns on the vent recurculation which basically takes the cold air from in the car and routes it back into the system to be recooled. Very efficient and it doesn't create that much condensate and its a much colder AC. On my Maxima however... that recurculation needs to be turned on manually. If not.. the system constantly takes super hot air from outside and attempts to cool it which does 2 things.. it creates a ton of condensate water and it makes for mediocre cooling. My wife didn't even know the button existed and always complained that the AC wasn't that cold. When we drove around yesterday with the button depressed she was shocked because the car was an icebox inside. Could this have been the cause of water inside the car under extremely hot conditions? I am thinking yes.

Yes, the drains for the a/c evaporator have been known to plug up and then the condensation will eventually leak out onto the floor. You figured it out and fixed your problem. Congrats.
The same thing can happen to the sunroof drain if your car has a sunroof.
The recirculate feature that toyota has, I consider it to be a pain in the behind. I have 2 Lexuses and they both do that. I hate having to turn off the recirculation feature every time I use the a/c. I rarely ever used recirculate in my Maximas and it got plenty cold in the 100º + temps here.
