Front (Passenger Side) Engine Mount Replacement Help

So I thought I knew how to use the search function but apparently I don't. I'm looking for a post on replacing my front (passenger side) engine mount and haven't found much.

The details...I have a 5 speed MT 99 Maxima with 195K miles and it started making a metal-on-metal type noise from the passenger side of the engine bay. I don't think it's the hub bearing because the noise changes with engine RPM, not speed. Also, I don't think it's the a/c compressor because I get the noise with the a/c off and on. My front (passenger side) mount it totally shot so I'm thinking the noise is because of the mount or maybe the idler pulley bearing is going bad. The noise seems to come and go, it doesn't happen all the time. Finally, I noticed that if I'm driving on a road with a severe crown on the RHS of the road, the noise seems louder.

Thanks!

PS Is there still a Paypal link to support this site? It's been a while since I've done this but I can't find anything.

I found this in about 10 seconds of searching the Org.

You can also pick up a stethoscope at Harbor Freight for a few bucks. Put it near the idler pulley and listen while it idles. You'll know if it's bad...

You can also take off the belt with the engine off, and spin the idler pulley and listen with your own ears or through the stethoscope.

My money is on the idler pulley before the mount. Bad mounts usually cause thuds when shifting or accelerating or braking quickly.

Gently lifting the engine by a block and jack just enough to take the weight off the mount and assessing the motor mount will quickly tell you if it's shot and metal on metal contact.

Thanks Wizard, I didn't even think to search for "passenger mount", all I tried was "front mount" and "right mount" (I think).

Thanks again.
