99 passenger seat belt sensor, mention in motor trend 2016
my 99 has its share of air bag light on dash blinking --requiring resets. more than a few topic posts by other owners on this forum about the same subject. . Many people blame it on the passenger front seat air bag wiring.
Yesterday I was reading the current issue of motor trend and their 29000 mile long term test of a 2016 maxima - it had 3 recalls during their test : replace fuel tank, possible brake fluid leak onto abs circuit board, and
wonder of wonders, required computer reflash for a problem with the passenger seat airbag sensor.
maybe the 99 engineer that messed up the original design still works there??

That engineer must have job security. I kept having airbag light problems. The plugs kept being jostled loose because my wife keeps letting her water bottles roll around under the seat. Now before I drive the car, I look under the seats for water bottles. Make sure the plugs under the seat haven't become loosened. You might have to unplug them and clean the contact surfaces. Then do the airbag reset. I have a 98 I30.

yes, it still comes on every year or so.
never owned a car that had airbag issues.
I think its unique to nissan
dealers probably make a lot of money off resetting it or replacing parts.

I reset mine for over 7 years. Never took it seriously. But look at folks killed in Honda and how BMW and Honda provided free loaners on cars affected. I had a BMW 328i loaner for 4 mos, some for 1 1/2 yrs so far. Other car cos do not trea the airbag as a joke, as Nissan has. Imho one is better off with the system disabled, but then again that defeats the purpose of the safety factor. I actually don't drive my SE anymore.
