trans problems

Hey I'm having a huge problem trying to figure out if my transmissions went bad or if its my clutch its a 95 max se. I was driving to Charlotte from Greensboro witch is about a hour doing about 70 cruise control was on. Then out of know where I hear a loud bang an my car was still going but as soon as I took it out of 5th it was over. car will not go into any gear but reverse and clutch peddle is kinda squishy, when in natural it make a slight grind noise and when I put it in reverse it works then makes a clunk sound. thanks any input would help

Hopefully it is just the clutch. How many miles does the Max have on her? Is there oil still in the trans? Do you see any leaks? .....

Could be a pressure plate. A new clutch disc is $20 and if you need both a whole oem kit is $100. If you need a trans you can find one for a similar price off car-part.com

Check to see if you have clutch fluid, then id inspect the master slave cylinder for pressure and leaks. If those check out. Id say look at your throw out bearing make sure it did not fail. Either way your probably going to have to pull the tranny.
