Aftermarket alarm instal ...

The search function doesn't work for any of the forums so i had to ask this here, hopefully i won't get flamed for reposting....

How easy it is to integrate an aftermarket alarm system with our factory installed alarms? Where exactly is the factory alarm control unit(brain) located in the car??? If i decide to integrate an aftermarket unit, i need to know where to start.
I don't want to put something too fancy and $$$, just something that is loud and has shock sensor(s). I need to guard those headlights somehow. Any recommendations??

Thanks in advance!

Well I don't know where the main unit is at, but here is a link to installing a shock sensor.

Link

I added a unit to integrate with my current alarm system and remote. It has a shock sensor, glass sensor and backup battery. Had all the work done by one of our local audio shops. There is another link to installing the shock sensor with the glass sensor, but I can't seem to find it. Hopefully someone else has the link on hand.
