PCV valve changed at 45,000 miles...
My old one looked pretty oily and dirty. It didn't move too freely when I shook it back and forth. The new one went back & forth very easily. I feel a difference performance wise. It feels like it revs faster and shifts faster than before. I'd say change it at about 45,000 miles. Installation wasn't too bad. I can help with install if needed.
Also this was discussed before. If you have an Intake be sure to check your screws which hold it together. I went to swap out PCV Valve and noticed Intake was hanging by one screw.

I swapped at just under 60k miles. The thing didn't jiggle as nice as the $11 OEM replacement, and since I don't know the history of this car before 37k I thought I'd swap. I noticed no difference, but didn't much expect to.
I also checked out my 73 sentra's PCV valve. Thing was a MESS. Oily and filthy, but I actually turned the engine on with the hose hooked up to the valve and the valve not in its housing, and even the filthy pcv valve was still sucking pretty strongly, so I'm sure my old PCV valve in the maxima was good. Still, it's a quick and inexpensive swap and now I know when it was last done.
On a 2000 maxima the red arrow in the picture points to the PCVvalve.Picture (if anybody is wondering).

damn, thats nice and easy
I guess I'll do it on my dads max.
I replaced mine while I had the intake apart for my porting project
I still need to replace my fuel filter, good think it will only take 5mins, neiner neiner neiner

To those who are going to do this themselves - for me personally I had to grab on to the hose and just yank very hard. It was lodged in there pretty tightly. Then, once the PCV valve pops out you can easily take the hose off the end of it. I've heard it's a good idea to lightly coat the PCV valve exterior with clean oil, so that it slips back in easily, and comes out easily next time.

I just purchased the OEM filter. As soon as I get it I'll install. There is a write-up but I heard it's a real pain in the a$$. Can't wait to knock it out. By the way, anybody know how much the filter's go for?
