what does a tune up consist of?
for my hardbody, I did an oil and filter change, replace air filter, change plugs and wires.
I understand the max has igniotn coils, what exactly are these? how is the ignition system different than with a vehicle with a distributor?

Well it depended all on how **** you want to be about your ride.
The air filter obvioulsy is something to be checked, fuel filter (in the tank, contact DAVEB for that, the local dealer will usually try to sell you a pump :rolleyes) The manual says its good for upto 100K, well I say bullsh!t. Im going to change mine soon (40K) Plugs are also said to last 100K yeah they will last that long, but the engine will run like crap. I changed mine out at 28K.
Check the belts, if even one of them seems cracked just change em all out, they are usually the same age and one will go right after another. Check the radiator hoses to make sure they are still soft, if they feel kinda crunchy get rid of em.
Check your tranny fluid to make sure its still a pinkish/red color. Its recommended you flush it about every 30K. I used B&M syn tranny fluid, its a bit overkill but whatever.
Im going to be flushing the Fuel injection system be4 summer as well. Not all of this is 100& necessary but it doesnt mean its a bad thing to check them out. Also give your C.V. boots a look, they tend to go out anywere from 40-50K

Thanks for the heads up. for the yearly tune up that I perform on my truck, I normally swap out the oil & filter, air filter, tranny fluid, belts, plugs, wires and cap and rotor. I flsuh the coolant every two years, and I also change the fuel filter every year.

Most people just drive their car into the ground these days
As for the filter, im not sure about a write up but ill tell you as much as I know. Just as a precaution id disconnect the battery ground, remove the lower part of the rear seat. Here is were you're going to access the fuel filter, remove the little bolts. If I remember correctly, its got 3 10mm bolts on the cover. Then proceed to remove the pump, the filter is in the assembly, you'll see it. Just be careful when working with fuel. If you havnt messed with it be4, its simple but id still suggest you take it to your mechanic to get it done. It shouldnt be any more then 0.5hrs of labor. Your call though
